Yes we all know that mixed martial arts is thriving. Fortunately it is also thriving in Joplin Missouri! At my last count, there were at least 14 different places that you can go to improve your mind, body and spirit. I must admit to me there has always been a fascination with martial arts that started with Bruce Lee. I certainly have watched all his movies a few times and have been amazed! In more recent years mixed martial arts and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu have become mainstream probably because of the UFC. Anyway today I am going to highlight a local MMA group that have made a great article that you can find below.
This is a new style gym for Joplin to combine many fighting sports at one location and incorporate a solid foundation of fitness, pride and dedication in the community. Joplin Judo and Jiujitsu's mission is to provide a quality training environment with a family focus. Martial Arts can be a family affair and enjoyable at all level of skill and age. Although this is a new gym to the area, the head instructor has run another club in Rolla, MO for over 7 years and has assisted at numerous gyms across the nation. The goal is to bring that vast experience to Joplin and provide the best training experience in the 4 state area.

Fencing Club
The Joplin Fencing Club was a running group of people that met at the Joplin Family Y for years. After the instructor passed away many years ago the club dissolved. Joplin Judo and JiuJitsu is making an effort to bring fencing back to Joplin. Our main focus is Foil and Sabre Fencing, but have plenty of room to expand this into Epee as well. This is a group of people that get together once a week to practice fundamentals and to cross blades. It is a great workout for young and old alike.
Submission Wrestling (no-gi bjj)
Submission wrestling (also called submission fighting, No Gi ) is general term describing the aspect of martial arts and combat sports that focus on clinch and ground fighting with the aim of obtaining a submission using submission holds.
